Contractors called to submit bids in December and January

Contractors have been invited to submit bids for deals to build Palm Gateway and the Night Souq and Boardwalk in the Deira Islands.

The closing date for the Palm Gateway contract is 11 January. The scope of work involves building three high-rise towers at the base of Palm Jumeirah, with an expected cost of AED3bn ($817m). The development will be built on top of an existing parking currently serving the Palm monorail on Al-Sufouh road. Project owner Nakheel has also confirmed the monorail station will remain operational during the construction.

The first tower, known as the Tubular Tower, will be 261 metres tall with 61 storeys, including 46 above podium level with 520 apartment units. The Central Tower will be 211 metres tall with 49 floors and 429 apartments. The Beach Tower will be 205 metres tall with 48 floors and 313 apartments.

The second contract involves the construction of the Night Souq and Boardwalk on the Deira Islands. The closing date for bids is 21 December. The development comprises a waterfront promenade and a night souq district, which will be divided into four villages, measuring about 1.9 kilometres in length.

In May, MEED reported that the local AE7 was awarded a design contract worth AED19.5m covering architectural and engineering services for the Night Souq and Board Walk.
