The contract - known as 7WX - covers the construction of six towers ranging between 25 and 40 storeys, a five-level concrete podium, two-level underground car park and associated facilities. The work is expected to take about two years to complete and will be carried out on a design-build basis.
A team of Nasa Multiplex and the UK/local Al-Futtaim Tarmac, which declined to bid for 7WX, is carrying out work on the first batch of six towers on the scheme under a AED 545 million ($148 million) contract awarded in mid-late 2001 (MEED 20:7:01).
The project manager is EC Harriswith Mace International, both of the UK. Emaar Properties is the client.
