New air traffic control centre to open June 1

The new state-of-the-art air traffic control centre at Abu Dhabi International Airport will start operations on June 1, the General Civil Aviation Authority announced yesterday. According to GCAA, the Dhs300m ($81m) air traffic centre, named Shaikh Zayed Centre, will feature four 60-metre radio masts and be housed in two nearly identical buildings, a main facility and a backup unit.
