New campus for Zayed University takes shape

The US' HOK,with Shankland Cox of the UK, has been appointed consultant for the project to build a new campus for the Zayed University in Dubai emirate. Seven groups of companies were competing for the contract (MEED 26:4:02).

Estimated to cost at least AED 300 million ($82 million), the project will include the construction of colleges for arts and sciences, business management, home sciences, telecommunications and IT. It will also include the construction of administration buildings, a gymnasium, a swimming pool - to be built to Olympic standards - a multipurpose hall, a cafeteria, a car park and landscaping works.

The new campus will be built over an area of about 100,000 square metres and provide facilities for 15,000 students. It will be located at Ruwia on the Dubai-Al-Ain highway. The construction period will be 22-24 months. The client is Dubai Municipality, with Zayed University (MEED 26:4:02).
