
Two Omani companies plan to build cement capacity at central port
Oman Cement Company and Raysut Cement Company have formed a new joint venture with Duqm Special Economic Zone Authority to build a plant on Omans central coast.
The new firm Al Wusta Cement Company plans to build a new facility to meet demand for infrastructure projects in the expanding port of Duqm.
The project is subject to detailed feasibility studies, the companies said in a joint filing to the Capital Market Authority.
The two cement companies have been planning a cement project at Duqm for several years. It was reported to be on hold in 2011.
