New shopping mall planned in Abu Dhabi

Bids are due to be returned by 3 January for a contract to build a new shopping mall in Abu Dhabi. To be called Al-Wahda mall, the development will have a total built-up area of 150,000 square metres and involve the construction of a nine-storey complex offering about 75,000 square metres of retail space.

The proposed facilities will be built next to the Abu Dhabi main bus terminal and will take about 30 months to complete. The contract is worth an estimated AED 220 million ($60 million).

The prospective bidders include Al-Habtoor Engineering Enterprises, Al-Hamed Development & Construction, Al-Muraikhi General Contracting Company, Target Engineering & Contracting Company, Al-Faraa Contracting, Pivot Engineering & Construction and Group 3 Engineering Contractors, all local, and the local/Lebanese Arabian Construction Company (ACC).

Lebanon's Khatib & Alamiis the client. The client is an Abu Dhabi-based private investor.
