New station to open on Dubai Red Line

23 September 2013

More than 2,500 passengers a day expected to use stop

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will open a new metro station on the Red Line on 30 September.

The metro stop is called Energy station and is situated between Danube and Ibn Battuta stations in the Jebel Ali area of the emirate. It is close to many of Dubai’s major industries including the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s power plant and Dubai Aluminium Company.

Once open the station is expected to see more than 2,500 passengers use it every day.

The RTA is currently developing a masterplan for all forms of transport in the emirate, including road, rail and water for 2020 and beyond. Consultants submitted bids for the contract in May.
