The Turkish Electricity Generation & Transmission Corporation (TEAS) has opened financial offers from six local firms for a contract to construct a 52-kilometre, 380-kV power transmission line running from Baskale in the east to the Iranian border. Mitas submitted the low bid, at $6.5 million. The other bids ranged from $6.6 million-$7.3 million. TEAS has also opened 12 bids to establish a conveyor distribution centre and other facilities for the Afsin Elbistan thermal power plant. The lowest bidder was Birlik Makina, at $8.4 million, followed by Nurol Celik at $8.7 million. The contract will be awarded after the bids are evaluated technically.
