Nexans was awarded the Eur58m ($92m) turnkey contract by the Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa).

Nexans will install six underground power cables to reinforce the high voltage network in Doha. The cables will link substations serving the Al-Wajbah area of the capital.

The project includes the design, development, supply and installation of a total of 96 kilometres of 66KV and 132kV cables, which will be manufactured in the French firm's factories in France and Belgium. The work is due to be completed in July 2009.
