05 August 2005
Jeddah-based Nitcois expected to issue tender documents by late October for the main construction package on its new headquarters project in Jeddah. Estimated to be worth SR 220 million-250 million ($58 million-67 million), the project will involve the construction of a 16-storey office building with a total built-up area of 32,000 square metres. The contract will also entail the construction of a six-level car park with an area of 35,000 square metres.

On-site work is due to start in early 2006 and will take about two years to complete. A team of US-based HOK and the UK's Arupis the design consultant; Turner Arabia, part of the US' Turner Construction International, is the project manager.

Several other high-rises are planned in Jeddah. Local property developer Tamlikis scheduled to issue a detailed design consultancy tender by late September for its landmark Jeddah International Business Centre (JIBC) project. About five companies are expected to compete for the tender.

Estimated to cost SR 200 million-250 million ($53 million-66 million), the mixed-use development will involve the construction of two 40-storey towers, a shopping mall and a basement car park. Both 140-metre towers will have a total built-up area of 109,320 square metres and take about three years to complete. The local Abnia Design Consultanthas prepared initial designs (MEED 17:6:05).
