NPCC scoops pipeline work

The local Sajaa Gas Private Company (SajGas)has awarded Abu Dhabi-based National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC)two contracts on its estimated AED 400 million ($109 million) project to bring gas from the offshore Mubarak field to a new onshore processing plant at Sajaa in Sharjah.

The scope of NPCC's contracts includes pipeline coating and installation of a 30-inch-diameter, 50-kilometre-long offshore pipeline, which will connect a four-leg riser platform being built by the local Maritime Industrial Servicesto the mainland. A Japanese team of Mitsui & Company, Marubeni Corporationand Itochu Corporationis supplying the line pipe.

Bids are due by 2 December for the construction of the 30-inch-diameter, 30-kilometre-long onshore pipeline, which will tie in with the Sajaa plant being built by Sharjah-based Petrofac International.

Petrofac has completed the front-end engineering and design (FEED) studies for the onshore scheme. Worleyof Australia has carried out detailed designs for the construction of the offshore platform, pipeline and related facilities.

SajGas is a joint venture between the Sharjah government, the local Crescent Petroleum Companyand six GCC investors (MEED 29:10:04).
