Bidding phase delayed after contract was tendered in June 2014
Oman is assessing engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) bids on a project to build a pipeline connecting the Saih Nihayda gas field with the port of Duqm.
The scheme has been delayed in the bidding phase, with project owner Duqm Special Economic Zone Authority (Sezad) tendering the contract in June 2014.
Companies bidding on the tender are thought to include:
- Al-Hassan (Oman)
- Essar (India)
- Galfar Engineering & Contracting (Oman)
- Indian Oiltanking (India)
- Kalpataru Power Transmission (UAE)
- Petrojet (Egypt)
- STFA Construction Group (Turkey)
The scope of work includes: a 36-inch, 230-kilometre pipeline; valve stations; scraper launcher/receiver facilities, cathodic protection, leak detection system, and associated facilities.
The gas piped to Duqm will meet demand for power at the port, which is expected to grow significantly as the ports population and industrial operations expand.
Oman has also received bids on projects to build a new refinery and a liquid bulk terminal at Duqm.
