Six new contracts awarded for road works across the Sultanate

Oman’s ministry of transport and communications has awarded six new road contracts worth a total of OR159.09m ($414m).  

The largest contract, valued at $318m, was awarded to Simplex Infrastructures and local partner Konstruktor Engineering for construction of the third package of the Al-Batinah Southern Expressway.  

The third package covers the construction of a 46 kilometre stretch of road, including five interchanges linking the Khadra al-Sa’ad, Khabourah and Hafeet roundabouts on the Batinah Expressway.

Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications, says the third package of the Al-Batinah Southern Expressway is the first of six to be formally signed.

In the other deals, Strabag International Oman signed a contract worth $36.1m  for the construction of Wadi al-Minqal-Wadi Bani Jabir road in the Governorate of South A’Sharqiyah.

The 19km road connects Wadi Bani Jabir and Wadi al-Minqal in the Governorate of South A’Sharqiyah.

The third-largest contract, worth $26.1m, was awarded to Al-Oula International and covers the Al-Ashish-Al-Ghaidharanah-Al-Mukhtalit roads stretching 73km in the Governorate of A’Dakhiliyah.

Marmul Contracting and Trading won the fourth agreement, valued at $17.3m, which covers repairs for parts of the Al-Lahaiban  Kahnat road and the implementation of road links stretching for 22km at Wadi Bani Omar in the Wilayat of Saham in the Governorate of North al-Batinah.

The fifth contract, which was awarded to Desert Convoy, in partnership with Khalid bin Ahmed and Sons is valued at $14.6m and covers to the construction of Ibri – Yanqul dual-carriageway (phase 1), which stretches 6km. 

Durrat al-Mudhaiq Trading won the sixth contract, valued at $1.1m, which covers the design and construction of the Lima-Al-Rawdhah road in the Wilayat of Khasab in the Governorate of Musandam.
