UAE company to provide municipal services

Oman Environmental Services Holding Company (Be’ah) has awarded the UAE’s Averda two waste management contracts.

Averda will provide waste collection and landfill services in Al-Dhakhiliyah and Dhofar governorates.

This covers 650,000 residents and 104,377 buildings over 127,000 square kilometres.

In Al-Dakhliyah, Averda will collect 400 tonnes of municipal waste from the Bidbid, Samail, Nizwa, Izki, Bahla, Al-Hamra and Adam. It will transfer the majority to Izz landfill.

Averda already operates Al Multaqa and Liwa Medical Waste Treatment Plants in Oman, collecting and treating more than 4,000 tonnes of hazardous medical waste per year.

Averda has similar contracts in Al-Ain in the UAE, and Morocco.

Veolia and local Al-Ramooz National won the municipal waste management contracts for the Al-Dhahirah and Al-Buraimi governorates in Oman earlier in 2016.
