The deal will involve providing services such as diesel fuel, wastewater removal and medical services at the airport

Oman Airports Management Company is inviting companies to submit expressions of interest by 31 May for the provision of services to Adam airport.

Adam airport is located about 30 kilometres outside the city of Adam.

The services include drinking water, treated effluent water, diesel fuel, wastewater removal and landscape maintenance.

The deal will also require facility management services such as providing offices, staff transportation and accommodation and a VIP facility as well as the provision of medical services in a planned airport clinic.

Oman Airports Management Company is aiming for the winning company to start work on 23 July for a two-year period.

Strabag Oman won the contract to build a four-kilometre runway at Adam airport in 2009 and also won the contract for civil works on the Sohar airport project (MEED 31:5:09).

A number of airport projects are underway in Oman including Duqm, Sohar and Ras al-Hadd.

The biggest projects involve the construction of passenger terminals at Muscat and Salalah airport.

The engineering, procurement and construction contracts for the terminals are scheduled to be awarded in July (MEED 6:4:10).

The low bidder for the contract to build the Muscat airport terminal is Cyprus-based Joannou & Paraskevaides (J&P), with a bid of OR746m ($1.9bn).

The low bidder for the contract to build a new terminal at Salalah International airport is a joint venture of Turkey’s Alsim Alarko and India’s Nagarjuna Construction Company (NCC) with a bid of OR273m.
