Oman state oil company awards engineering deal for Haima West power plant

Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has awarded local contractor Al-Hassan Engineering Company an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for a power project in central Oman.

The state-owned oil producer awarded the contract worth $45.77m (OMR 13.8m) to Al-Hassan for performing EPC works at its Haima west combined-cycle power project.

‘The company is pleased to announce that it has signed on Wednesday [28 February] the letter of award from PDO for the EPC works of Haima west combined cycle power project for RO17.6mn (excluding long lead items of RO13.8mn)’, Al-Hassan Engineering revealed in a filing to the Muscat Securities Market.

The execution period for the Haima West power project will be of 36 months. Al-Hassan Engineering has said it expects “reasonable income” from this project.

The main purpose of the power plant’s refurbishment is to convert its turbines from open-cycle to combined-cycle.
