New pipeline will transfer gas to Duqm from central Oman
Oman plans to build a 230-kilometre pipeline that will transfer gas from gas fields in the centre of the country to the Duqm Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
Speaking at the Oman Construction Summit in Muscat on 31 January, Yahya Khamis Juma al Zadjali, head of planning and engineering at the Duqm SEZ Authority, said a tender had been issued for the scheme and the route had already been decided.
A 32-inch diameter pipeline will be constructed that will transfer 12 million cubic metres a day (cm/d) of gas to Duqm. About 7 million cm/d will be used for power generation with the rest being made available for industrial use.
