Oman Cement Company to float tenders on Muscat project by end of first quarter

Oman Cement Company (OCC) is preparing to tender contracts on its cement mill expansion in Rusayl Industrial Estate, Muscat, according to industry sources.

The company is expected to tender the main construction deals by the end of the first quarter. OCC plans to invest an estimated $100m in the mill, which has a proposed capacity of 150 tonnes an hour.

OCC’s last major project was the third-phase expansion of its Rusayl cement plant completed in 2011, which extended both the production lines and grinding mill. The cement plant’s capacity is currently 2.4 million tonnes a year.

The Omani government owns a 51 per cent stake in OCC, with the remainder floated on the Muscat Securities Market.
