Oman pushes back Salalah power project bid deadline

09 June 2008

The state-owned Oman Power & Water Procurement Company has extended the bid deadline to 16 June for the concession to develop the Salalah independent water and power project (IWPP) in the south of the sultanate.

The plant, which is Oman’s sixth private power project, will have capacity of about 400MW and 15 million gallons a day of water.

The selection of a preferred bidder and the contract award should both take place before the end of 2008.

The plant will be connected to the grid operated by the Dhofar Power Company.

The advisers on the scheme are Germany's Fichtner for technical work, BNP Paribas for financial advice and Denton Wilde Sapte for the legal work (MEED 2:3:07).
