The five-star property will be operated by Anantara and is expected to open in Q2 2026

Oman-based private development firm Musstir has started the construction of its Bandar Al Khairan resort in Muscat.

The construction work has started and is being undertaken by the local contractor Al Adrak Contracting Company.

The client has signed an agreement with Bangkok-headquartered hotel operator Anantara Hotels & Resorts to operate the property once it is ready.

The OMR36m ($93m) five-star hotel will feature 121 rooms and will offer facilities including a dining area, health and sports clubs and various water activities.

Construction is expected to be completed in Q2 2026.

Musstir is the real estate and hospitality arm of Muscat-headquartered MB Group.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the hotel project was held earlier this week and was attended by Heritage & Tourism Minister Salim Mohammed Al Mahrouqi.

Al Mahrouqi said that the project aligns with the ministry’s vision to develop the Al Khairan area.

He added: "This resort is integral to our efforts in developing tourism in Muscat governorate. It represents our commitment to enhancing our partnership with the private sector, providing tourist lands in sync with comprehensive tourism development plans."

Mohammed bin Ali Al Barwani, founder and chairman of MB Holding Group, added: “Designed to international standards while embracing Oman’s natural beauty and heritage, this resort aims to set a benchmark in hospitality in Oman.”
