Oman’s Export Credit Guarantee Agency has invited groups to bid for a contract to build office buildings at Airport Heights at Bausher in Muscat.

Contractors have until 11 October to submit bids for the proposed office buildings project, which will be located next to Muscat International Airport. By 23 September, 13 companies had picked up documents for the contract.

Oman’s Social Development Ministry has also tendered a construction contract at Airport Heights in Bausher.

The ministry has invited contractors to submit bids by 11 October for a contract to build a vocational association building. Ten contractors had picked up documents for the contract by 23 September.

The two projects will be located adjacent to the proposed convention and exhibition centre.The Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran) recently received bids from 16 companies for a site preparation and enabling works package for the convention centre project(MEED 11:7:10).

The local Al-Awazi International Company submitted the lowest bid with a price of RO2.5m. The local Desert Line Projects submitted the second lowest bid with a price of RO2.87m. This was closely followed by the RO2.89m bid submitted by the local Ali Trading & Contracting Company.

The convention and exhibition centre development is planned to include a 6,000 capacity convention centre, a 30,000-square metre exhibition and sports centre. The plans also include a 125,000 square metre shopping mall, a 70,000 sq m low-rise business park and four hotels, each with 250 rooms. One hotel will be rated as five-star, two will be four-star and one will be three-star.
