Property will be built next to the existing Intercontinental hotel
Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran) has invited contractors to bid by 9 March for the contract to build a new W Hotel in Muscat.
The five star property will be built next to the existing Intercontinental hotel. It will contain 290 hotel rooms and suites, including 29 suites and a royal villa.
The facilities include sports and spa facilities, food and beverages outlets, swimming pools, ballroom, meeting rooms and a business centre.
The architect is Denmarks Cowi & Partners. The interior designers are Thailands P49 Deesign and US-based Rockwell Group. The landscape designer is Dubai-based LMS International.
Contractors are also competing for work on another hotel development on the outskirts of Muscat. Jordan-based Saraya Holdings is evaluating bids for four packages on the Saraya Bandar Jissah resort. The contracts cover the construction of a hotel, two villa developments and infrastructure works.
When complete, the resort will have two hotel components, one comprising 206 rooms and the other 106 rooms, located in the cove of Bandar Jissah, near Qantab to the south of Muscat, between the Hajjar Mountains and the Gulf of Oman.
