
South Korean energy company signs agreement with UAE nuclear body
Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (Enec) has signed an operating support services agreement (OSSA) with the Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) for the Baraka nuclear power plant.
Under the agreement, KHNP will provide experienced nuclear power plant personnel to the Barakah nuclear power plant to support Enecs operating subsidiary company, Nawah Energy Company (Nawah).
KHNP and Nawah will work together to ensure the safe operation of the four 1,400MW nuclear power units currently under construction at Baraka in the Western Region of Abu Dhabi.
According to Enec, 66 per cent of overall construction work on the four nuclear units has been completed. Enec is aiming for full power from the nuclear power plant in 2020.
