Finnish group awarded series of copper and molybdenum contracts in Kerman province
Outotec has won a number of technology orders from copper and molybdenum projects in Iran worth a combined €265m ($326m), the Finland-based minerals processor said.
The orders were placed by National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO) for four separate projects in the Islamic Republic and include engineering, technology licences, supervision, equipment, installation and training.
The technology and services cover NICICO’s Khatoon Abad copper smelter, the Miduk copper concentrator expansion, the Nowchun copper and molybdenum concentrator expansion and the Sarcheshmeh copper concentrator expansion.
Outotec said it was working closely with the relevant authorities to ensure its activities are compliant with the recent sanctions administered against Iran by the US and EU.
The Khatoon Abad smelter and Miduk, Nowchun and Sarcheshmeh concentrators are all located in Iran’s south-eastern Kerman province.
