Oxy award approaches

23 August 2002

A contract award is expected by the end of September for the central processing facilities project at the offshore Idd al-Shargi south dome field. Three international companies are competing for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract, which will add some 50,000 barrels a day of capacity. The client is Occidental Petroleum Qatar.

The bidders for the contract are Abu Dhabi's National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC), Jebel Ali-based J Ray McDermott Middle East, and Singapore's Sembawang. In addition to supplying the processing platform and bridges, the successful bidder will also be responsible for tie-ins to the existing Idd al-Shargi north dome facilities, which are also operated by Occidental under a development and production sharing agreement with Qatar Petroleum (QP).

The front-end engineering and design (FEED) package has been prepared by the UK's Genesis.
