Expressions of interest in the project to develop a new airport at Sambrial, near Sialkot in Punjab province, are due to be submitted by 30 April, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) says. The new airport will serve passenger and cargo traffic for the cities of Sialkot, Wazirabad, Gujrat and Gujranwala and the surrounding areas.
The developer would design, construct, commission and operate the airport. Construction will include a terminal building, apron, runway, taxiway, car park, cargo complex and all other infrastructure. A site of about 1,000 acres (400 hectares) has been earmarked for the project (see Tenders).
