PAKISTAN: Contracts placed for Swabi canal work

The Water & Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has placed a series of contracts for the Swabi salinity control & reclamation project in Northwest Frontier Province.

The contracts, financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), are as follows:

for the construction of the Upper Swat canal diversion and tunnel works, awarded to the Karachi office of China Geo-Engineering. Contract value is $19.25 million

remodelling the Lower Machai branch canal, Khalu Khan and Ismailia distributaries and allied structures. GITEC-RSL has a $3.86 million contract

remodelling the Machai branch canal RD52-110, ITS distributaries and allied structures in a $3.73 million contract awarded to GITEC-RSL

remodelling Ballar and Shagai surface drainage, left bank distributaries of the Lower Naranji. The local Sarwar Corporation has a $2.01 million contract.
