Saudi Elecrtricity awards construction management contract to Parsons Brinckerhoff
The US’ Parsons Brinckerhoff has won a SR24m ($6.4m) contract to manage the construction of the Wadi al-Dawasir power plant project, in the Najd region in central Saudi Arabia.
The client is the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC).
Parsons has also won a second contract to manage the construction of the planned PP10 power plant in Riyadh.
SEC awarded a SR614m contract to upgrade the Al-Dawasir plant to the local Al-Toukhi Contracting Company in July 2008.
Under the scheme, Al-Toukhi will increase capacity of the existing plant by 110MW.
In June 2008, the local Arabian Bemco Contracting won the SR11.5bn contract to build Riyadh’s PP10 plant, which will have capacity of 2,000MW.
