New routes boost growth at Jordanian airport
Jordan’s Queen Alia International airport recorded a 6.5 per cent increase in passenger traffic in 2009, compared with the figure for the year before.
More than 4.7 million passengers passed through the airport during 2009, according to a report by Airport International Group, an international consortium responsible for expansion work at the airport.
Aircraft movements for 2009 were up by 12 per cent with a total of 57,766 aircraft movements.
The introduction of new routes at Queen Alia International airport contributed to the increase in passenger traffic and aircraft movements. Airlines such as Royal Jordanian, FlyDubai, Bahrain Air, Kuwait’s Wataniya and Dubai-based Emirates announced additional flights to and from the airport in 2009.
