Phase two of Jebel Ali sewage plant due for tender

Design work on second phase currently ongoing

The construction contract for the 300,000 cubic-metre-a-day (cm/d) second phase of the Jebel Ali sewage project in Dubai will be tendered in the next six months, MEED’s Mena Water conference was told.

Speaking at the event in Abu Dhabi on 29 September, Qaiss al-Bayatee, the local associate director of water and wastewater at US-based Aecom, said construction contracts for the second phase of the expansion scheme are expected to be issued in the next three to six months.

Aecom is designing the second phase of the sewage treatment plant.

The second phase will double the capacity of the existing 300,000-cm/d phase one. Following the second phase, a third 300,000 cm/d and 150,000 cm/d fourth phase are also planned.
