Piling kicks off on Etisalat office

14 December 2001

The local office of Germany's Bauer Internationalhas started work on the piling package on the Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (Etisalat)office development in Dubai. The next step in the implementation of the estimated AED 150 million ($41 million) project will be the release of bid documents for the main building works contract (MEED 2:11:01).

Bauer is scheduled to complete the piling in mid-February. By that time bidding is expected to be well under way on the building works package, which will cover the construction of a 32-storey building, including a four-storey car park.

To be located beside Trade Centre roundabout, the development will have a built-up area of 45,000 square metres. The project has been planned since the mid-1990s. Originally, it was earmarked a plot of land close to Etisalat's headquarters in Deira.

The consultant is the UK's Shankland Cox; the project manager is the US' Turner International.
