UAE-based Masaood John Brown (MJB) Internationalis awaiting UN approval for three contracts valued at $34 million in total to refurbish turbines and generating equipment at the Taji and Halleh power plants. The client is the General Establishment for Electricity Production.
The first two contracts, valued at $14 million each, involve rotor and power plant refurbishment work on Frame-5 turbines at Taji. Last year MJB completed a $7 million servicing and rehabilitation contract at the 175-MW Taji plant (MEED 22:10:00).
The third contract, valued at $6 million, is for the refurbishment, servicing and maintenance of generating facilities at the Halleh power plant. MJB's former UK partner - John Brown Engineering - converted the Halleh plant's turbines from oil to gas in 1988.
