
Oman joint venture selects management team during first board meeting
Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries Company (DRPIC), a joint venture formed to operate a major project in Oman, has appointed a management team for the scheme.
The joint venture between Abu Dhabi-based International Petroleum Investment Company (Ipic) and Oman Oil Company (OOC) is planning to build the 230,000 barrel-a-day (b/d) refinery by 2017.
During a meeting in Abu Dhabi, the DRPIC’s board of directors appointed OOC’s Christopher Wszolek as project director.
It also selected OOC’s chief executive officer (CEO) Salim al-Wahaibi as chairman and Ipic managing director Abdullah al-Qubaisi as vice chairman, according to the Oman News Agency. DRPIC also confirmed the selection of US contractor Shaw Group as the scheme’s project management consultant (PMC).
