Putting the cap on the Faisaliah Centre

03 March 2000

The 260-metre tall tower will be completed this year

The King Faisal Foundation is set to top the 260-metre-high office tower of the Al-Faisaliah Centre in central Riyadh by early March, putting the finishing touches to construction work on the SR1.2bn ($320m) project.

Some 60 per cent of the tower’s 30-floor office accommodation and 98 per cent of the retail space in the three-level shopping centre has already been let, with high-profile international retailers including Harvey Nichols establishing a presence. The development also includes 100 luxury apartments and a 224-room, five-star hotel, whose rooms are currently being furnished.

The opening ceremony of the 55,000-square-metre complex will be held on 14 May. The office tower will be managed by the local Al-Khozama Management, an affiliate of the foundation.

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts of the US will operate the hotel and the US’ Urban International has the management contract for the shopping centre. Architectural designs were prepared by the UK’s Foster & Partners and on-site construction supervision services were provided by Buro Happold, also of the UK.
