PWC wins logistics job for US

The local PWC Logisticshas been awarded a logistics contract, worth up to $3,200 million, to supply basic subsistence provisions to US forces based in Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar and Afghanistan. The firm also announced on 21 February its acquisition of Singaporean-based logistics service provider Trans-Link Groupin a deal worth $35 million.

Under the terms of its 11-month logistics contract from the US Defence Logistics Agency, PWC will be responsible for the procurement and supply of food and water to US forces in the region. PWC has supplied American forces in Kuwait and Iraq since the end of combat operations in May 2003. In mid-2004, it was awarded a $320 million contract to build and manage a nationwide logistics network to supply construction materials to contractors working on Washington's $5,100 million reconstruction programme for Iraq (MEED 18:6:04).

The purchase of Trans-Link, a specialist logistics and supply chain management services provider, gives PWC a strategic foothold in South-East Asia.
