
Joint venture comprises Qatar Petroleum and GE Oil & Gas
Qatar Fertiliser Company (Qafco) has awarded a joint venture of the US GE and Qatar Petroleum (QP) a long-term maintenance and training contract at its plant at Mesaieed.
The joint venture is called Al-Shaheen GE Services Company (QSC) and comprises QP and GE Oil & Gas subsidiary Downstream Technology Solutions (DTS).
The deal will cover the maintenance and repairs of GE equipment on site, including power and compression machinery. Training of Qafco workers is also included. the exact length of the agreement was not disclosed.
Qafco produces 3.8 million tonnes a year (t/y) of ammonia and 5.6 million t/y of urea at the complex in southern Qatar.
