Ethylene feedstock for Qapco's facility will come from its second ethylene expansion project at Mesaieed, which came on stream in 2007, and from the Ras Laffan Olefins Company cracker.
The two sources should provide more than 1 million tonnes-a-year (t/y) of ethylene, which will be supplied by pipeline (MEED 2:6:06).
Qapco is thought to be in the process of approaching banks to help finance the plant (MEED 21:11:08).
A larger EPC deal to provide technology and build a mixed-feedstock cracker at Mesaieed was recently delayed due to the slump in market conditions (MEED 12:12:08).
