Plant will provide cooling to 46 towers in Doha

Qatar District Cooling Company (Qatar Cool) has opened its second cooling plant in the West Bay area of Doha.

The plant will provide district cooling to 1 million square metres of commercial, financial and residential premises, and has a capacity of 37,000 refrigerating tonnes of district cooling.

Qatar Cool already has two district cooling plants in operation in the country. It launched its first plant at West Bay in 2006. That plant has capacity of 30,000 refrigerating tonnes of cooling.

The two West Bay plants will serve a total of 46 towers by 2011.

The company also opened a second facility at The Pearl Qatar in January.

The plant is the world’s largest integrated district cooling plant and will have capacity of 130,000 refrigerating tonnes of cooling when it becomes fully operational in 2011.
