Qatar invites consultants to prequalify for wastewater contract

21 August 2014

Deadline set for 25 September

The Qatar Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has invited companies to prequalify for pre-contract consultancy services for the construction of integrated industrial wastewater treatment facilities.

Consultants have until 25 September to submit prequalification entries for the contract.

The project is being developed due to the inability of the existing industrial area sewage treatment facilities to treat hazardous and toxic wastewater from industrial sources, which often contain high-levels of non-biodegradable constituents.

Qatar is planning to invest heavily in expanding and upgrading its water and sewage systems in the next decade as it undertakes its World Cup 2022 infrastructure programme.

In February, Ashghal received bids for the contract to build pumping station 16, PS 16N and associated facilities. The contract will involve building main sewer tunnels for interception of sewage flow from PS 2, located on the north side of Al-Meena Street, PS 7, PS 8, just north of the Ras Aboud flyover cornice crossing, and PS 9, which is located close to the C ring road.

Ashghal received bids for the contract to provide post-contract professional consultancy services for the PS 16N project in March.
