The Qatari cabinet has approved a draft law that will likely strip off agencies' exclusive rights to import and distribute pharmaceutical products, the Peninsula has reported. Under the proposed law, individuals and companies will be allowed to import medicines in bulk, subject to close monitoring by the Pharmacy and Drug Control Department of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH). The move might impose maximum profit ceilings for wholesalers and retailers that are expected to be much lower than the current level of over 40%.
