Company set to increase capacity to 7,210 tonnes
Shipping company Qatar Navigation has taken delivery of the third of four container vessels it ordered from South Korean shipbuilding firm Dae Sun.
The new vessel is called Al-Rumila and will increase the company’s container-carrying capacity from 2,815 tonnes to 6,875 tonnes.
The company said in June it would receive the final vessel before the end of 2009. The fourth vessel will raise the company’s shipping capacity to 7,210 tonnes.
Qatar Navigation owns 15 per cent of the Qatar Shipping Company which is listed on the Qatar Exchange (MEED 31:8:09).
