Qatar tenders Rayyan roads package

10 March 2011

Work will involve upgrading local roads northwest of Doha

Qatar’s Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has invited companies to submit bids for the project to upgrade local roads in the Rayyan area, northwest of Doha.

Contractors have until the 5 April to submit bids for the construction package.

The project will involve the construction of temporary and permanent roads and the provision of future service ducts and water crossings.

The work will also include earthworks, kerbing and footpaths, traffic signs and road markings and water works.

The project is part of Doha’s plans to spend $20bn on building new roads and related infrastructure over the next five years to improve access and ease congestion around the peninsula.

In addition to the recent appointment of the US’ KBR to provide programme management services for 29 major road projects, Ashghal is planning to appoint a project management consultant for local and minor road schemes throughout the state (MEED 9:2:11) .
