Qatar to retender road scheme

Qatar’s Public Works Authority (Ashghal) is expected to retender a previously cancelled road project to selected contractors.

The package for the construction of the Duhail Intersection and Al-Gharaffa Street is part of the multibillion-dollar Expressway Programme.

The scope includes road works, intersections, link roads, waste water drainage and ducts, among other related facilities.

The contract remained unawarded until its cancellation in early 2017.

Qatar’s expressway programme calls for a total of 35 road schemes to be executed between 2010 and 2017. It will deliver a total of 900 kilometres of mainline carriageway and about 200km at grade and multi-level intersections. The largest packages currently under construction include the New Orbital Highway and Truck Route, and the Doha-Dukhan Highway.
