Contract covers three packages as part of plans to connect Al Waab City with Doha’s main roads
The local Al Darwish Engineering has won a $36m contract to build a network of service roads and footpaths to connect the Al Waab City real estate development with nearby Doha.
The contract, which was awarded in mid-March, includes three construction packages.
The first package covers an upgrade to Doha’s Road 150 and Al Bustan Road, as well as providing a new 64-metre wide, 395m road; a 52m wide, 3.5 kilometre road and 1.5km of service roads.
The second package calls for construction of service roads and footpaths on peripheral roads around Al Waab City’s Block F District and a main road. The service road includes a with a 20m wide, 1.8km road, while the main section will provide the 16m wide, 1km span of road connecting the district to Doha’s Centre Road.
The third package includes the construction of service roads and footpaths to Doha’s South Boulevard Road, Al Bustan Road, Road 21 and Centre Road. It includes a 20m wide, 600m long road and a 16m wide, 1km road.
The main construction contract includes provision of the roads and footpaths as well as surface drainage, sewerage works, traffic control signals and road markings, road lighting and public utility services.
Doha’s Al Waab District is home to projects including Doha Sports City, Aspire Tower, Khalifa Stadium and Villagio Mall. Al Waab City will add 639 villas, 1,293 apartments, and 425 hotel rooms to the district.
