Bidders for the residential accommodation package include: a local joint venture of Contracoand Midmac Contracting; Darwish Engineering, also local, with US-based Contrack International; the local Tadmur Contracting, with Austria’s Strabag; and the local Teyseer Contracting Company, with Athens-based Consolidated Contractors International Company.

The fast-track project, due to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2005, calls for the construction of about 600 residential units over a total built-up area of 150,000 square metres.

Further contracts are due to be tendered on Education City, including the convention centre package, for which prequalification is nearing completion.

The project manager on the development is the local office of KEO International Consultants.
