Mixed-used development will be near Muscat International airport
Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran) has received bids from nine consultants to provide quantity surveying services on a new convention and exhibition centre on the outskirts of Muscat.
The bidders comprise three local firms, Alamur Quantity Surveying, Majan International Consultants, and NWS International Oman along with three UK-based firms, Davis Langdon, Faithful & Gould, and Mace Group, Canada’s Hanscomb, Sri Lanka’s Milcris and Singapore’s Surbana Consultants.
Omran plans to build a 6,000-seat convention centre and a 30,000-square-metre exhibition and sports centre at the site, 4 kilometres from Muscat International airport. The plans also include a 125,000-square-metre shopping mall, a 70,000-square-metre low-rise business park, and four hotels, each with 250 rooms. One hotel will be rated as five-star, two will be four-star, and one will be three-star.
