Rajan Phakey is a partner based in the firm’s Abu Dhabi office. He is the head of the Dentons’ Middle East energy practice. Rajan specialises in energy projects, trading and regulation. Prior to moving to the Middle East in 2013, Rajan spent over 10 years in Dentons’ London office, where he advised on domestic and international energy matters.

Phakey’s practice covers all aspects of oil and gas, upstream, midstream and downstream, conventional power and renewables projects. Having spent many years active in the UK renewables market, Rajan has led the legal teams on various industry first and other significant projects.

He has also been on secondment to various banks and energy clients, where he developed expertise in commodities trading in the spot physical and derivatives markets.

Phakey regularly advises governments, regulators and market participants on energy regulation. His experience covers policy, compliance and day to day licensing issues, as well as drafting primary and secondary legislation.
