Production at 200,000 b/d Libyan oilfield imminent
Spain’s Repsol will restart production at the 200,000 barrel-a-day (b/d) El-Sharara oil field within days, Libya’s interim Oil and Finance Minister Ali Tarhouni said on 10 October.
Tarhouni also told the Reuters newswire that production will reach about 1 million b/d within a year, coming to a standstill during the civil war that broke out in February. Prior to the conflict, Libya produced 1.6 million b/d.
“Within less than a year we will be up to 1 million barrels. I am very confident of that,” said Tarhouni.
Production currently stands at 400,000 the minister added.
