Rockets fired from Lebanon into Israel

29 November 2011

The incident is the first cross-border fire between the two states since 2009

The Israeli army has claimed that several rockets were fired from southern Lebanon into northern Israel.

The rockets caused damage to two buildings in the Western Galilee region of Israel, but no casualties were reported. In response to the rockets, the Israeli army returned fire into Lebanon.

The incident is the first cross-border fire between the two countries since 2009.

“The Israeli army considers that it is a serious incident and believes that it is the responsibility of the Lebanese government and the Lebanese army to avoid these kind of attacks,” said an Israeli army statement.
