Royal Commission extends Yanbu Waterfront deadline

30 December 2008
The Royal Commission for Jubail & Yanbu has extended the bid deadline for the site development for phase three of the Waterfront development at Yanbu.

In October the tender was issued for the construction and site development of the Waterfront, with a bid deadline of 23 December (MEED 14:10:08).

This has now been extended to 24 March 2009, with a pre-bid meeting scheduled for 15 February.

The scope of work covers the infrastructure of the project including site preparation earthworks, roads, parking and walkways, a storm drainage system, irrigation system, electrical power distribution, telecoms network and recreational facilities.

The project duration is expected to be two years.

In July China Harbour Engineering Company signed a $100m contract for the dredging and excavation for the Waterfront development.
The work includes the dredging of basins, swimming lagoons and channels, and the construction of beaches, bridges and offshore islands protected by a sea wall (MEED 24:7:08).
